“Cautiously extending the existing complex” was the task set by the City of Cologne for the extension building of the Hildegard-von-Bingen Gymnasium in the negotiated procedure, which was won by ksg. Part of the services was an impromptu design. Completion is scheduled for 2020.

Competitions

After a successful VOF procedure, ksg were awarded the commission for the construction of the new Building 272. In the scope of the overall refurbishment of the Chemical Institutes, preparations for the demolition and new construction shall be commenced in spring 2016.

After ksg already implemented the first construction phase of the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in 2001, the architects were commissioned with the construction of the 4-storey extension building in 2013. The festive ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the institute building took place on 19 May 2015.

Structural works for one of the largest housing projects in the Lehel District have been completed. On 23 April, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on Oettingenstraße. Until 2016, 105 new condominiums will be completed here. The façade design was developed by ksg.

ksg was awarded the commission in the VOF procedure. The planning phase for the LZM Lehrzentrum Maschinenbau of Darmstadt University of Technology is now in full swing. The monolithic building will be constructed with a fair-faced concrete façade.

Completion

How a 1980s practice can be converted into modern premises is illustrated by the interior design department of ksg with the concept for the Cardiology Practice in Düsseldorf, which was implemented during ongoing operations.

Competitions

The Wintergartenareal office building is situated in a prominent location in the Leipzig city centre and in close vicinity to the main station. Furthermore, it is only a few metres from a high-rise tower block dating from the early 1970s. The adjoining development consists of listed residential and commercial buildings from the Gründerzeit period.

"Transformation – Bestandsgebäude neu genutzt" (Transformation – re-use of existing buildings) was the theme of Forum A4 on 22 January 2015 at the BAU trade fair in Munich. The audience listened to an exciting lecture on the "Architectural Art of Transformation” by Prof. Johannes Kister!

Competitions

After the design by ksg was awarded one of two first prizes in summer 2014, the office revised the original concept. These effort was worthwhile: Prof. Susanne Gross and her team can now rejoice over the 1st prize and the implementation.

Completion

kister scheithauer gross architekten describes the multi-storey car park for RWTH Aachen University as “peculiar with an out of focus depth”. The building does not correspond to conventional associations with the appearance of a car park.

The twin building of the 5th construction phase for Bremerhaven University can now be glad about an award: House T, the 6th construction phase, was awarded a special mention in the 2014 BDA Award Bremen.

In an interdisciplinary procedure, ksg architekten together with Bolles+Wilson and kiparlandschaftsarchitekten developed an integrated overall concept for Mülheim’s southern district. This concept was now presented to the public and provides the basis for the further urban development.

Competitions

The object of the urban planning competition was a former car park on the old trade fair grounds in Stuttgart-Killesberg, the ‘Rote Wand’ area. ksg (in collaboration with stern landschaften) was awarded one of two first prizes for juxtaposing two typologies, ‘Minimal Houses’ and ‘Cloud Houses’.
